Protective effect of uridine on atrial fibrillation: a Mendelian randomisation study.
Mendelian randomisation study using genetic variants to explore the causal relationship between plasma uridine levels and atrial fibrillation (AF) risk. Higher genetically determined plasma uridine levels were significantly associated with a lower risk of AF, suggesting prophylactic potential.
Nucleotides Cytidine and Uridine Associated with Vitamin B12 vs B-Complex Vitamins in the Treatment of Low Back Pain: The NUBES Study.
RCT comparing the treatment of low back pain using nucleotides (uridine and cytidine) with vitamin B12 versus B-complex vitamins. The nucleotides+B12 group had fewer adverse events and no treatment discontinuations due to AEs. Both groups showed significant pain reduction, with the nucleotides+B12 group showing superior reduction at 30 days.
Evaluation of the Efficacy of the Addition of a Combination of Pyrimidine Nucleotides and Vitamin B1 and B12 to Standard Treatment in the Management of Painful Radiculopathy and in the Quality of Life of Patients.
A multicenter, prospective, two-cohort, randomized, open-label study assessed the impact of adding a supplement containing cytidine and uridine nucleotides and vitamins B1 and B12 to standard treatment for radiculopathy-associated pain. The study included 122 patients and found that while both groups showed pain improvement, the reduction was not statistically significant. However, the experimental group showed significant functional improvement and was more likely to progress to a better clinical category.
Pathophysiology and targets for treatment in hereditary galactosemia: A systematic review of animal and cellular models.
Systematic review of cellular and animal studies on hereditary galactosemia, summarizing pathophysiological mechanisms and potential treatment targets. Uridine supplementation, GALK inhibitors, UGP up-regulation, ER stress reducers, antioxidants, and pharmacological chaperones have shown promise in rescuing biochemical and clinical symptoms.
Effect Size Analyses of Souvenaid in Patients with Alzheimer's Disease.
Meta-analysis of clinical trials evaluating Souvenaid in Alzheimer's disease patients. Effect sizes were calculated for cognitive, functional, and behavioral outcomes, showing small positive effects in mild AD but no effect in mild-to-moderate AD. The number needed to treat indicates a favorable harm:benefit ratio for Souvenaid in mild AD.
Effect of the combination of uridine nucleotides, folic acid and vitamin B12 on the clinical expression of peripheral neuropathies.
Exploratory, open-label, multicenter study of 212 patients with peripheral neuropathy and neuropathic pain treated with a combination of uridine monophosphate, folic acid, and vitamin B12. The treatment significantly reduced pain intensity and the global pain score, allowing for a reduction in nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug use.
Short-term administration of uridine increases brain membrane phospholipid precursors in healthy adults: a 31-phosphorus magnetic resonance spectroscopy study at 4T.
This study investigated the effects of uridine on brain membrane phospholipid precursors in 17 healthy males using 31-phosphorus magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The uridine group showed significantly increased levels of phosphomonoesters (PME) and phosphoethanolamine (PEtn) over one week, while other metabolite levels showed no significant changes.
