Effects of 12 Weeks of Chromium,Fruit Extract, and Shilajit Supplementation on Markers of Cardiometabolic Health, Fitness, and Weight Loss in Men and Women with Risk Factors to Metabolic Syndrome Initiating an Exercise and Diet Intervention: A Randomized Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Trial.
RCT of 166 sedentary men and women with metabolic syndrome risk factors, evaluating the effects of chromium, fruit extract, and shilajit supplementation during a 12-week exercise and diet intervention. Supplementation improved pulse wave velocity, flow-mediated dilation, platelet aggregation, insulin sensitivity, and blood lipid profiles, with more optimal changes in body composition, strength, and aerobic capacity observed, particularly with higher dosages.
Shilajit extract reduces oxidative stress, inflammation, and bone loss to dose-dependently preserve bone mineral density in postmenopausal women with osteopenia: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.
RCT of 60 postmenopausal women with osteopenia comparing placebo to 250mg and 500mg shilajit extract daily for 48 weeks. Shilajit supplementation dose-dependently preserved bone mineral density and reduced oxidative stress and inflammation compared to placebo.
Efficacy ofin Tibia Fracture Repair: A Randomized Double-Blinded Placebo-Controlled Clinical Trial.
RCT evaluating the efficacy of shilajit in tibia fracture healing in 160 patients. The experimental group showed a reduced mean time of tibial bone union compared to the placebo group, with no significant difference in adverse effects.
Effects of 8 Weeks of Shilajit Supplementation on Serum Pro-c1α1, a Biomarker of Type 1 Collagen Synthesis: A Randomized Control Trial.
RCT examining the effects of 8 weeks of Shilajit supplementation (500mg and 1000mg daily) on serum pro-c1α1, a biomarker of type 1 collagen synthesis, in 35 recreationally trained men. Significant increases in serum pro-c1α1 were observed in both low and high dose groups, indicating enhanced type 1 collagen synthesis.
The effects of Shilajit supplementation on fatigue-induced decreases in muscular strength and serum hydroxyproline levels.
RCT of 63 recreationally-active men examining the effects of 8 weeks of Shilajit supplementation at 250mg and 500mg versus placebo on muscular strength and serum hydroxyproline levels. The high dose group showed significantly less decline in strength and lower serum hydroxyproline levels compared to low dose and placebo groups.
Skin Transcriptome of Middle-Aged Women Supplemented With Natural Herbo-mineral Shilajit Shows Induction of Microvascular and Extracellular Matrix Mechanisms.
RCT evaluating the effects of shilajit supplementation on skin gene expression and microperfusion in healthy adult females over 14 weeks. Shilajit improved skin perfusion and induced genes related to endothelial cell migration and blood vessel growth.
The Human Skeletal Muscle Transcriptome in Response to Oral Shilajit Supplementation.
RCT observing the effects of oral Shilajit supplementation on skeletal muscle adaptation in adult overweight/class I obese human subjects. The study found that Shilajit supplementation promoted skeletal muscle adaptation through upregulation of ECM-related genes, enhancing muscle mechanotransduction properties, elasticity, repair, and regeneration.
Clinical evaluation of purified Shilajit on testosterone levels in healthy volunteers.
Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study evaluating the effect of purified Shilajit on testosterone levels in healthy male volunteers aged 45-55. Shilajit significantly increased total testosterone, free testosterone, and DHEAS compared to placebo over 90 days, with maintained gonadotropic hormone levels.
Clinical evaluation of spermatogenic activity of processed Shilajit in oligospermia.
RCT evaluating the spermatogenic activity of processed Shilajit (PS) in 35 oligospermic patients. PS administration for 90 days significantly improved sperm count, motility, and serum testosterone levels, with a decrease in oxidative stress marker MDA. The study confirmed the safety and efficacy of PS in enhancing male fertility.
Green synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles using aqueous extract of shilajit and their anticancer activity against HeLa cells
The study synthesized ZnO nanoparticles using an aqueous extract of shilajit and characterized them using various techniques. The ZnO nanoparticles demonstrated potent cytotoxic effects against HeLa cell lines with an IC50 value of 38.60 μg/mL, indicating significant anticancer activity.
Shilajit mitigates chemotherapeutic drug-induced testicular toxicity: Study on testicular germ cell dynamics, steroidogenesis modulation, and Nrf-2/Keap-1 signaling
The study investigates the effects of Shilajit on mitigating testicular toxicity induced by the chemotherapeutic drug cyclophosphamide in male Parkes mice. Shilajit supplementation improved testicular germ cell dynamics, enhanced testosterone biosynthesis, and reduced oxidative stress, highlighting its potential to enhance fertility and counteract drug-induced testicular damage.
