Effects of Different Levels of Antarctic Krill Oil on the Ovarian Development of Macrobrachium rosenbergii

Animal study

The study investigated the effects of different levels of Antarctic krill oil on the ovarian development of Macrobrachium rosenbergii. Supplementation with 3-4.5% Antarctic krill oil significantly promoted ovarian development, vitellogenesis, and reproductive hormone synthesis, with 4.5% being optimal for stimulating reproductive hormone secretion.

Preparation and characterization of Antarctic krill oil/quercetin co-loaded liposomes and their protective effect on oleic acid-induced steatosis and oxidative stress in vitro.

In vitroInflammation

The study developed liposomes co-loaded with Antarctic krill oil and quercetin to enhance their application. The liposomes showed high oxidative stability and protected HepG2 cells from oleic acid-induced steatosis and oxidative stress in vitro.

Encapsulation of Antarctic krill oil and kaempferol co‐loaded nano‐liposomes in alginate‐chitosan hydrogel beads: improved stability and modified digestive behaviour

In vitro

The study developed alginate and chitosan hydrogel beads to encapsulate Antarctic krill oil and kaempferol co-loaded nano-liposomes. The hydrogel beads improved the stability of krill oil and protected kaempferol from degradation, while reducing the release of free fatty acids during in vitro digestion.

Antarctic krill oil exhibited synergistic effects with nobiletin and theanine on regulating ligand-specific receptor-mediated transcytosis in blood-brain barrier by inhibiting alkaline phosphatase in SAMP8 mice.

Animal studyBrain Health

The study investigated the effects of Antarctic krill oil combined with nobiletin and theanine on aging-induced blood-brain barrier impairment in SAMP8 mice. The combination regulated ligand-specific receptor-mediated transcytosis by inhibiting alkaline phosphatase, suggesting a potential strategy to prevent and treat Alzheimer's disease by improving BBB function.

Antarctic krill oil exhibited synergistic effects with nobiletin and theanine in ameliorating memory and cognitive deficiency in SAMP8 mice: Applying the perspective of the sea–land combination to retard brain aging

Animal studyBrain Health

The study investigated the effects of Antarctic krill oil combined with nobiletin and theanine on memory and cognitive deficiency in SAMP8 mice. The combination showed synergistic effects in improving recognition and spatial memory, suppressing β-amyloid aggregation, neurofibrillary tangles, apoptosis, and neuroinflammation, suggesting a potential strategy for treating Alzheimer's disease.
