Morinda citrifolia Linn. for prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting.

RCTn = 100

RCT evaluating the efficacy of Morinda citrifolia Linn (noni) extract for preventing postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) in high-risk patients. The 600 mg noni extract significantly reduced nausea incidence in the first 6 hours post-surgery compared to placebo, with no reported side effects.

Using quality of life measures in a Phase I clinical trial of noni in patients with advanced cancer to select a Phase II dose.

RCTn = 51Physical Performance Inflammation Energy

Phase I clinical trial to determine the maximum tolerated dose of noni in cancer patients and identify an optimal quality of life-sustaining dose for Phase II trials. The study found that three or four capsules four times daily (6-8 g) provided better outcomes in controlling fatigue, pain, and maintaining physical function. Scopoletin levels in blood and urine were related to noni dose.

A double-blind, randomized, clinical trial on the antileishmanial activity of a Morinda citrifolia (Noni) stem extract and its major constituents.

RCTn = 40

A double-blind, randomized clinical trial evaluated the antileishmanial activity of a topical ointment made from Morinda citrifolia stem extract against cutaneous leishmaniasis. In vitro studies also showed good antileishmanial activity of morindicone and morinthone. Among 40 patients, 50% showed an excellent response and 30% exhibited good improvement.

Gastrokinetic activity of Morinda citrifolia aqueous fruit extract and its possible mechanism of action in human and rat models.

RCTn = 20

This study investigated the gastrokinetic activity of Morinda citrifolia aqueous fruit extract (AFE) in human subjects and its mechanism in rats. AFE increased the absorption of ranitidine in 20 healthy volunteers and produced a contractile response in rat gastric fundus strips, mediated through the 5-HT(4) receptor.

Pharmacokinetic study of Noni fruit extract.

RCTn = 9

Pharmacokinetic study of Noni fruit extract in nine healthy volunteers at doses of 1,500 mg, 2,000 mg, and 2,500 mg. Scopoletin was identified as a bioactive marker of Noni exposure, with low bioavailability and significant intersubject variability.
