Silymarin for adults with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.

Meta-analysisn = 2,069

This meta-analysis evaluated the benefits and harms of silymarin monotherapy and silymarin complex in adults with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). The analysis included 17 RCTs with 2069 participants. The evidence suggests that silymarin monotherapy may decrease liver enzymes compared to no intervention or placebo, but the certainty of evidence is low to very low. The benefits and harms of silymarin in MASLD remain unclear due to insufficient power and heterogeneity across studies.
