Effects of gypenoside L-containing Gynostemma pentaphyllum extract on fatigue and physical performance: A double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized trial.
This double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized trial investigated the effects of Gynostemma pentaphyllum extract containing gypenoside L on fatigue and physical performance in 100 healthy Korean adults. The treatment group showed significant improvements in maximal oxygen consumption, perceived exertion, and fatigue levels compared to the control group, indicating a positive effect on resistance to exercise-induced physical and mental fatigue.
The effect of an orally-dosed Gynostemma pentaphyllum extract (ActivAMP®) on body composition in overweight, adult men and women: A double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled study.
Double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled study of 117 overweight adults examining the effects of Gynostemma pentaphyllum extract (ActivAMP®) on body composition. The Gpp group showed significant reductions in total body weight, BMI, total fat mass, and gynoid fat mass compared to placebo. Blood measures indicated differences in plasma triglyceride, alanine aminotransferase, and TNF-α levels.
Gynostemma Pentaphyllum Increases Exercise Performance and Alters Mitochondrial Respiration and AMPK in Healthy Males.
This randomized double-blind placebo-controlled crossover study investigated the effects of Gynostemma pentaphyllum on exercise performance and mitochondrial signaling in 16 healthy untrained young males. Supplementation improved 20 km time trial performance, increased muscle AMPK Thr172 phosphorylation, and decreased plasma leptin and glucose levels compared to placebo.
Supplementation with extract of Gynostemma pentaphyllum leaves reduces anxiety in healthy subjects with chronic psychological stress: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial.
A double-blind, placebo-controlled trial with 72 healthy adults under chronic stress tested the effects of Gynostemma pentaphyllum extract (EGP) on anxiety. EGP significantly reduced the Trait Anxiety Scale score of the STAI by 16.8% compared to placebo, suggesting its potential to reduce stress and anxiety.
Antiobesity effect of Gynostemma pentaphyllum extract (actiponin): a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.
RCT of 80 obese participants comparing 450 mg/day actiponin (Gynostemma pentaphyllum extract) to placebo over 12 weeks. The actiponin group showed significant reductions in total abdominal fat area, body weight, body fat mass, percent body fat, and BMI without significant adverse effects.
The add-on effects of Gynostemma pentaphyllum on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
A randomized, single-blind, controlled clinical trial evaluated the efficacy of Gynostemma pentaphyllum (GP) as an add-on treatment for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in 56 subjects. The treatment group received GP extraction and showed significant reductions in BMI, AST, ALP, insulin, and HOMA-IR compared to the control group.
APOE and CETP TaqIB polymorphisms influence metabolic responses to Hibiscus sabdariffa L. and Gynostemma pentaphyllum Makino tea consumption in hypercholesterolemic subjects.
RCT investigating the effects of Hibiscus sabdariffa and Gynostemma pentaphyllum tea consumption on lipid and glucose levels in hypercholesterolemic subjects with different APOE and CETP TaqIB polymorphisms. HS consumption decreased triglyceride levels in B2 carriers but reduced HDL-C in B1B1 and E4 carriers. GP consumption decreased total cholesterol and fasting blood glucose in B2 and non-E4 carriers but also reduced HDL-C.
Antidiabetic effect of Gynostemma pentaphyllum tea in randomly assigned type 2 diabetic patients.
RCT investigating the antidiabetic effect of Gynostemma pentaphyllum tea in 24 drug-naïve type 2 diabetic patients over 12 weeks. The tea group showed significant decreases in fasting plasma glucose, HbA(1C) levels, and insulin resistance compared to placebo, with no adverse effects reported.
