Hemp seed protein and its hydrolysate compared with casein protein consumption in adults with hypertension: a double-blind crossover study.
Double-blind, randomized, crossover trial in 35 adults with mild hypertension comparing hemp seed protein (HSP) and its hydrolysate-derived bioactive peptide (HSP+) to casein. HSP+ consumption significantly decreased 24-h systolic and diastolic blood pressure compared to casein. Both HSP and HSP+ lowered ACE and renin activities and increased NO concentration in plasma.
Acute effects of hemp protein consumption on glycemic and satiety control: results of 2 randomized crossover trials.
Two acute randomized crossover trials examined the effects of hemp protein on glycemic response and satiety compared to soybean protein and a carbohydrate control. Hemp protein dose-dependently lowered postprandial blood glucose and insulin concentrations compared to the carbohydrate control, with no significant differences between hemp and soy protein.
