Effects of postbiotics on chronic diarrhea in young adults: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial assessing clinical symptoms, gut microbiota, and metabolite profiles.

This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial with 69 participants assessed the effects of postbiotics on chronic diarrhea. Postbiotic intake significantly improved Bristol stool scale score, defecation frequency, urgency, and anxiety. It also increased beneficial intestinal bacteria and beneficial metabolites while reducing potential pathogens and diarrhea-associated metabolites.
