Application of machine learning methods to describe the effects of conjugated equine estrogens therapy on region-specific brain volumes.

RCT involving 513 women aged 65-80 years assessing the effects of conjugated equine estrogens (CEE) therapy on regional brain volumes using structural MRI. CEE therapy was associated with smaller regional volumes of normal tissue in the limbic and temporal lobes, with mean decrements up to 7% in the left entorhinal cortex and 5% in the left perirhinal cortex.

Effects of conjugated equine estrogens on cognition and affect in postmenopausal women with prior hysterectomy.

RCT of 886 postmenopausal women with prior hysterectomy assessing the effects of unopposed conjugated equine estrogens (CEE) on cognitive function and affect. CEE was associated with lower spatial rotational ability after 3 years of treatment, but did not significantly influence other cognitive functions or affect.

Double-blind, placebo-controlled study investigating the effects of creatine ethyl ester supplementation on cognitive performance. Creatine dosing led to improvements over placebo on several cognitive tasks, suggesting a positive effect on cognition.

Response to creatine analogs in fibroblasts and patients with creatine transporter deficiency.

The study analyzed the efficacy of creatine ethyl ester (CEE) in fibroblasts and patients with creatine transporter deficiency. CEE showed increased creatine uptake in fibroblasts compared to creatine monohydrate. However, after 1 year of CEE treatment, no significant improvement in neuropsychological assessment or brain creatine levels was observed in patients, leading to discontinuation of CEE.
