Chrysin-induced sperm parameters and fatty acid profile changes improve reproductive performance of roosters.

RCTn = 28Sexual Health

RCT of 28 Ross 308 roosters receiving different levels of Chrysin supplementation for 12 weeks. Chrysin improved sperm motility, plasma membrane integrity, semen concentration, fertility, and hatchability rates, with higher blood testosterone levels in the highest dose group. The n-6/n-3 fatty acid ratio decreased, and malondialdehyde concentration was reduced in treated groups.

A pilot study on the safety of combining chrysin, a non-absorbable inducer of UGT1A1, and irinotecan (CPT-11) to treat metastatic colorectal cancer.

RCTn = 20

Pilot study on the safety of combining chrysin with irinotecan (CPT-11) in 20 patients with advanced colorectal cancer. Chrysin was administered to potentially reduce irinotecan-induced diarrhoea. No toxicities attributed to chrysin were observed, and the grades and frequency of delayed diarrhoea were mild.

Disposition and metabolism of the flavonoid chrysin in normal volunteers.

RCTn = 7

Study on the oral disposition of the dietary flavonoid chrysin in healthy volunteers. Oral 400 mg doses were administered to seven subjects, with findings indicating low oral bioavailability due to extensive metabolism and efflux of metabolites back into the intestine for hydrolysis and faecal elimination.

Bioavailability and In Vivo Antioxidant Activity of a Standardized Polyphenol Mixture Extracted from Brown Propolis

Animal studyn = 30Inflammation Immunity

The study investigated the bioavailability and antioxidant activity of a standardized polyphenol mixture from brown propolis in mice. Despite the absence of detectable galangin and chrysin in plasma, the glucuronide metabolite of galangin was found, and SOD-1 expression increased after prolonged administration, indicating enhanced antioxidant defense.
