A daily regimen of a ceramide-dominant moisturizing cream and cleanser restores the skin permeability barrier in adults with moderate eczema: A randomized trial.

RCTSkin Hair Health

A randomized trial evaluated a ceramide-dominant moisturizing cream and cleanser in adults with moderate eczema over 28 days. The active group showed significant improvements in transepidermal water loss and skin hydration compared to placebo, although eczema severity scores decreased in both groups. Patient satisfaction was higher in the active group for itch relief and skin softness.

The 24-hr, 28-day, and 7-day post-moisturizing efficacy of ceramides 1, 3, 6-II containing moisturizing cream compared with hydrophilic cream on skin dryness and barrier disruption in senile xerosis treatment.

RCTn = 24Skin Hair Health

A split site, double-blinded, randomized, controlled study in 24 senile subjects with mild to moderate xerosis compared the efficacy of ceramide-containing moisturizer to hydrophilic cream. The ceramide moisturizer improved skin hydration, barrier function, and skin pH significantly over 24 hours, 28 days, and 7 days post-application, with additional benefits in hemoglobin index, wrinkle, and texture.
