Plasma metabolomics of depressed patients and treatment with Xiaoyaosan based on mass spectrometry technique.

RCTn = 39Mood

The study used a GC-MS based metabolomics approach to identify metabolic differences between healthy volunteers and depressed patients treated with Xiaoyaosan (XYS). Significant differences in metabolite levels were observed, with XYS reversing changes in glyoxylate and dicarboxylate metabolism, fatty acid biosynthesis, and amino acid biosynthesis. The study suggests potential diagnostic biomarkers for depression.

Pharmacokinetics of Active Components of Yokukansan, a Traditional Japanese Herbal Medicine after a Single Oral Administration to Healthy Japanese Volunteers: A Cross-Over, Randomized Study.

RCTn = 21

A randomized, open-label, 3-arm, 3-period, crossover trial was conducted on 21 healthy Japanese volunteers to study the pharmacokinetics of Yokukansan (YKS), a traditional Japanese herbal medicine. The study measured plasma concentrations of three active compounds in YKS, demonstrating rapid absorption and elimination of geissoschizine methyl ether and hirsuteine, and slower pharmacokinetics for 18β-glycyrrhetinic acid.
